Wigan vs. Liverpool: Premier League Betting Preview

A week seems like a long time these days without any domestic action, thanks to the recent internationals, but the Premier League returns this weekend with five matches taking place and the best bet comes on Monday night. NFL jerseys

Liverpool travel to the DW Stadium in the final live game of the upcoming round of fixtures to take on Wigan and I think Rafael Benitez's side are worth siding with, even at the best available 1.67 on offer.

The Reds were too good for Blackburn last time out, triumphing 2-1 thanks to strikes from their star duo, and providing both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres remain healthy I rate the Merseyside club as likely favourites to grab fourth spot.

There have been numerous false dawns this season for Liverpool fans but victory over Unirea Urziceni in the Europa League seven days ago saw them safely progress to the next round and there was plenty to like about their win over Sam Allardyce's side at Anfield on the weekend too.

While it is often difficult to gage just how country representation will affect a player's performance for their club side next time out the extra 48 hours the Liverpool players have been afforded is a huge boost and Benitez knows his men must keep their foot on the gas.

Failure to qualify for the Champions League would be catastrophic but Liverpool can build upon a recent run of results which has seen them beaten just once in the top flight since mid-December with three points in the north west against a side that remain hugely unpredictable, and still in danger of the drop.

Nobody, not even beleaguered Portsmouth, have won less games on home soil in the Premier League this season than the Latics and consecutive defeats to Tottenham and Birmingham City have hardly helped their survival chances.

It's now three games in succession without scoring for Roberto Martinez's side and while the days of nine goal hammerings may well be behind them, so too are victories.

This looks like being a fairly one-sided affair, even if goals are hard to come by, but it's one in which I expect Liverpool to dominate with Gerrard and Torres back in tandem. Anything less simply isn't acceptable for the visitors and I don't imagine they'll leave disappointed.
